Site Caretaker

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker for our popular school. You will be responsible for the maintenance, security and the management of services on our large school site and to take responsibility for a range of duties. These will include:

 

  • Manage and maintain the physical resources on the site, buildings, grounds, materials and equipment

  • Operational effectiveness and compliance with health and safety requirements

  • Oversee and manage all site security

  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of the importance of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.  This is essential as you will have responsibility for risk assessments, monitoring, compliance checks, and recording.

The role requires you to be skilled in routine maintenance activities, work on your own initiative, have good communication skills and be well organised.

  • Have a good sense of humour and fun, with a desire to make a difference in helping all children to learn to their potential.

  • Have a good sense of humour and fun, with a desire to make a difference in helping all children to learn to their potential.

LUNCHTIME SUPERVISORS 

  • Salary: £12.26 per hour

  • Hours: 5 per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only)

  • Roles can be combined with other part-time positions, eg TA, if required.

 

Withycombe Raleigh Primary School wants to make lunchtimes as enjoyable a learning experience as the rest of the school day. We are looking for Mealtime Assistants (MTA's) and would welcome applications from people who enjoy working with children and who would like to join our happy and hardworking team.

Full training and support will be provided.  Many of our MTA's move on to Teaching Assistant roles within our school team and we fully support this development.

 

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS is required for this post.

You would be required to:

  • ensure that the children are safe, occupied and happy during the lunch break at school.

  • take responsibility for the general welfare of all children while eating and playing, ensuring they eat well and sensibly, and have guidance while playing.

  • encourage children to play and socialise with others for a substantial amount of their lunch hour.

  • ensure that accidents are treated correctly and reported appropriately.

  • assist the Senior Supervisor or Line Manager in observing work rotas and agreed timetables, sharing all identified jobs fairly and to report to him/her whenever there is an incident or problem that needs discussion.

  • be included in all school personnel training relevant to the role of supervisor – first aid, behaviour, supervision, and to have access to outside training opportunities.

If you need to pick up a few more hours of work each week, you could consider applying to become a crossing patrol officer, and combine this with another part time role in the school, such as MTA or TA. 

  • Patrols work for five hours per week during the school term and are paid £11.59 per hour (pay award pending).

  • These hours are 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the afternoon, around school start and finish times.

  • Patrols are paid 38 weeks for term time, and also an element of annual leave, bank holidays and a half pay “retainer” (approx £600 per year) for the school holidays.
